Melanotan-II (MT-II) is indeed a synthetic peptide designed to mimic the effects of alpha-melanocyte stimulating hormone (α-MSH). This hormone is responsible for stimulating the production of melanin, which gives skin its color. By mimicking α-MSH, MT-II can promote tanning without the need for sun exposure.
